Cellulite and Diet

Dietary changes to treat cellulite are important as there is mounting evidence regarding the relationship between food and our circulatory health. Adopting a diet that emphasizes plenty of fresh, pure water with minerals, fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, and that limits animal products will have many benefits, such as lowered risk of heart disease, obesity, and poor circulation. Eliminate refined sugar, processed white starchy foods, and table salt. When eating dairy, choose organic goat milk yogurt (no sugar or sugar based fruit added). Eat plenty of onions, garlic and sea salt for their health-promoting benefits.

To further assist with eliminating the appearance of cellulite, select a diet low in saturated fat and high in fiber, which includes more vegetables, fruit, whole grains, legumes. Choose organic whenever possible to increase vitamin and mineral content and to eliminate extra toxins. Fruits high in bioflavonoids, such as cherries, blackberries, and blueberries, are especially helpful for alleviating or preventing this condition.

Lifestyle recommendations include regular exercise. Movement increases blood flow. Walking at a brisk pace, swinging the arms from side to side is a great form of exercise you can enjoy outside in the fresh air. Dancing, yoga, hiking, and any type of movement are considered exercise. Exercise does not have to be (and should not be) painful, boring, difficult, expensive, or inconvenient. Take stretch breaks during your working schedule to avoid long periods of sitting or standing while at the office. Get regular exercise, like walking at least three times per week for 20 minutes or more, to benefit all the systems of the body. Exercise helps push the blood back to the heart and strengthens the entire body. Incorporating yoga exercises, such as the butterfly pose, can help relieve pressure and swelling and reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Drink plenty of pure water to flush out the toxins. A good rule of thumb is at least 6 to 8 glasses per day or half of your body weight in ounces.

Cleansing Drink: Mix 8 - 10 ounces of hot water with the juice of 1 lemon daily (preferably in the morning) to encourage detoxification and elimination. Lemon is also an effective diuretic and will stimulate the body to eliminate additional fluid. Eliminate alcohol, coffee, black tea, sugar, and all highly-refined and processed food stuffs. Drink herbal teas and aloe vera juice (concentrate) to encourage the detoxification process.

After the HCG Diet, to strengthen veins, take butcher's broom, grape seed extract, Vitamin C and bioflavanoids. Beneficial anti-oxidants are vitamin B (for stress), vitamin E and selenium. Fruits and berries are also high in anti-oxidants, which is the reason our anti-aging facial lotion, exfoliating facial grains and body lotion contain raspberry for continued anti-oxidant, anti-aging support. Take 1 - 2 Tbsp a day of a high-quality oil, such as flax oil, to improve the cellular membranes, helping to eliminate toxins and excess fluid. Some people like to add it to cottage cheese, add it to a protein/fruit smoothie, or create a terrific base for salad dressings!
